Home Q&A Marriage Spouses Staying Together in Iddat
Q: Must the husband and wife stay together during iddat?
A: She must stay in the husband's house and observe her iddat. If the talaaq was a rajee talaaq then they can stay in the same house without pardah. If the talaaq was a baain or three talaaqs then pardah must be observed. If they fear falling into sin by having intercourse because they are alone together then a 3rd person must stay with them to prevent them from falling into sin. If this is not possible then one of the two must move out preferably the husband. (Fatwaa Raheemiyah volume 2)
