Q: Please inform me about sajdah-e-Shukr. Which mazhabs says it is jaaiz (permissible) and which says it is not?

A: According to the hanafi madhab, if a person is blessed with any favour, then out of appreciation and gratitude to Allah Ta’ala, he should perform two rakaats salaah. If he suffices upon sajda-e-shukr, then according to the preferred view in the hanafi madhab, it is permissible. However, one should refrain from making sajda-e-shukr in public so that people do not consider this as a sunnah. Sajda-e-shukr according to the maaliki, shaafi and hambali madhab is permissible.
